Getting started

Do I need a special kind of account to announce concerts?

No, there is only one sign-up path. When you create your account, pick "Organiser" instead of "Solo artist" or "Band", then give the name of your venue, association or collective. It is the same choice for a bar, a non-profit, a production company, a collective or a festival. If you also play in a band, you stay on the same account: the band is simply another page.

Do I get a public page on Starshine?

Yes. Your page has its own address, a banner, a theme and content blocks, and it lists your upcoming dates. You build it yourself in the page editor. One difference with bands: you do not receive Flames and you are not in any ranking, because you are not there to be compared with the artists you book.

Several of us run the association. Can I bring them in?

Yes, from "My team". You invite the booker, the stage manager, whoever runs the till or your graphic designer by name, handle or email address. A fan account is enough, they do not have to be artists. You decide room by room what each person can see, instead of sharing one password.

How do I announce a date?

Use "Create a date". It asks one question per screen: what it is (a gig, a festival, a release party, a band contest, a club night), which day, its name, where it happens, who plays. The venue comes from a shared directory, and if it is not there yet you add it once for everyone. The date starts as a draft: nobody sees it and no band is contacted until you put it online.

Where do I set the times, the price and the ticketing?

On the "Info" step of your date, then any time from "Manage this date". You set doors, end of the night, minimum age, the price (nothing announced, entry without a ticket price, pay what you want, or ticketed with an advance and a door price) and the places where people can buy in person. Ticketing is a link to yours: Starshine does not sell the tickets for you.

I book every Thursday. Can I create a whole run at once?

Yes. You can announce as many dates as you like, with no cap on how many or on the year. From an existing date, "Another date like this one" carries over the venue, the times, the price, the age limit and the ticketing, and offers to repeat it weekly, every other week or monthly, up to 24 dates in one go. The line-up and the name are left for you to fill in, since every night has its own, and the copies start as drafts.

I am short-handed for setting up. Can Starshine help?

Yes, through the mutual-aid side of the product. You describe what you need (hands for the get-in, a lift, a couch for the band) and attach it to that night: it then shows up on the public page of the date, read by people who already plan to come. You answer the offers, and a run sheet lets you list the night’s stations, from the bar to the get-out, and put your team on them.

The show is cancelled. Should I delete the date?

No, cancel it from "Manage this date" instead. Its page stays online and says it is cancelled, which is exactly what the people who planned to come are looking for. The bands on the bill and everyone who said they were coming get told, and the day-of reminders stop going out. If the show is rescheduled, you can undo it.

The line-up

How do I fill in the line-up?

You search for the bands on Starshine, and any band that is not there you simply type in. A line always carries a name, and sometimes a link to a page: your bill is complete from day one, even if half the bands have no account. Adding a name notifies nobody. When the bill is ready, one button sends every confirmation request at once.

Open the screen
What exactly does a band have to accept?

Just one thing: whether that date shows up on their own page. Their name stays on your bill whatever they answer, and you keep control of the venue, the times and the running order. For each line you can see whether it is pending, confirmed or declined, and you can nudge the ones who have not replied, once a day. A refusal is not a fault, it is an answer.

Open the screen
Can I get the bands’ tech specs?

Yes, from "Tech specs" on your date: patch list, tech rider, hospitality rider and who to call, for each band playing that night. These are the band’s own documents, always current, with nothing to chase or dig out of an old email. One condition: the band has to have attached its date to your show. Otherwise, ask them for their file link, which opens without an account.

Filling the room

Can I make my poster and my flyers?

Yes, and you retype nothing: it all comes from the date you have already filled in. You upload a bare background image, no text and no logos, and ten formats are laid out on top of it: A6 to A2 for the printer, plus square, portrait, story, wide banner and profile header for social. You can add up to six partner logos, your promoter licence number and the photo credit. The printed QR code leads back to your event page.

Where does the public actually see my event?

Every date gets its own web address, built to be found by a search engine and printed on a flyer. It shows the bill, the venue, the times, the price and who plays. It also appears on your page among your upcoming dates, and on the page of every band that agreed to be listed. When you put it online, you can announce it in the feed with its artwork.

How do I know how many people are coming?

Fans tap "I’m going" under your announcement in the feed, or from the gig list on your page. You see the count on your date, in your own space. That count is never public: a night with three names would empty itself out. You can, however, choose to show the faces of the people coming on the event’s public page.
